IHRIM Launches Education Partnership With the University of Chicago’s Graham School of Professional Studies

IHRIM Members:

Happy New Year! I hope that you had a successful 2017 and wish you all the best for a productive year in your respective role.

My name is Mick Collins and I am the Vice-Chair of IHRIM, supporting the Chair (Jim Pettit) and our Board, Committee Members, Affiliates, and Volunteers.

I am writing today to announce an education partnership with the University of Chicago’s Graham School of Professional Studies and wanted to take a moment of your time, as an IHRIM member, to explain our goal for this, and similar relationships.

As you know, IHRIM is committed to offering our members an extensive array of educational opportunities – HRIP certification, webinars, access to published research, and local and national events – in the HR information technology domain. Whether it is keeping up to date with the latest technologies in recruiting, or assessing the risk of non-compliance with GDPR, our goal is to provide access to subject matter experts with deep knowledge in our terrain.

More broadly, IHRIM sees an opportunity to advocate for the HRIT profession and help you, as a leader in this field, enhance your career. With that in mind, one of our goals for 2018 is to partner with content providers who offer general professional development education, complementing IHRIM’s HRIT-focused courses.

One such partnership will commence in February. We are launching a relationship with the University of Chicago’s Graham School so that we might provide IHRIM members with access to webinars and courses offered by one of the world’s leading academic institutions.

The mission of the Graham School is to deliver the University’s rich library of content, intellectual resources, and rigorous research to a broad set of learners via a range of professional programs, certifications, and degrees. Similar to IHRIM’s member value proposition, students comes to the Graham School to gain workplace skills in order to advance their careers or create new ones. Almost all of their 4,500 students that take courses with the Graham School are employed full-time requiring the school to offer flexibility in how course materials are delivered.

Our relationship will feature a series of educational webinars held approximately every 6-8 weeks, on a wide range of professional development topics.

As a special incentive for IHRIM, members who attend a University of Chicago webinar will receive reduced tuition cost for the University of Chicago’s Graham School online and onsite continuing education courses and certifications. Examples of workshops relevant to IHRIM members include Mastering Emotional Intelligence, Building High-Performance Teams, and Financial Decision-Making in Project Management.
