Human Capital Management

Human capital management (HCM) is the comprehensive set of practices for recruiting, managing, developing and optimizing the human resources of an organization.


Human Capital Management Software

The software applications that are intended to help an organization manage and maintain its workforce. Generally speaking, human capital management software is considered to be enterprise class software that can scale up and automate processes like payroll, performance reviews, recruiting and training.


Human Resource Data Platform Standard

A draft standard to enable the interchangeability of HR component products, using a plug and play operation. It is a blueprint for Human Resource software developers, and a framework for buyers and sellers of software products. It defines component classes and subclasses (according to HR business function and processes), object naming and database structure.


Human Resource Information System

The system or systems used to collect, store, maintain and retrieve information needed to manage human resources. An HRIS may include only basic employee information or information needed for all of the human resource functions (e.g. benefits, compensation, payroll, etc.). Human Resource Management (HRM)

The act of managing people during their employment life cycle. The management process may be carried out by any member of an organization that has direct control over employee activities or staff involved in recruiting, training or planning roles.


Human Resource Outsourcing

The process of sub-contracting some of all of an organization’s Human Resources processes or activities. A third-party vendor will typically take responsibility for some or all of the HR systems and administrative processes.
