As the summer draws to a close, my attention turns to Fall events and, in particular, the HR Technology Conference & Exposition. I find it invaluable for spotting emerging vendors new to the HR space, hearing of successful customer deployments and transformations, and, most of all – spending time with experts in the HR domain, asking them for the “real story” behind an acquisition or who’s on the cutting edge of a particular topic.
Normally held in Las Vegas, the 2020 edition (October 27-30) will be all-virtual and for the first time ever, completely free for practitioners to attend!
I am intrigued to see how the vendor marketplace experience is replicated online; the Virtual Experience page says that practitioners can “learn in detail about the benefits and features of…the industry’s top software providers’ offerings as you are walked through their platforms in 45-minute interactive demos” and that “you can live chat with the presenters”. Any effort to include more discussion in the presentations is a good thing. There will also be opportunities to “wander the halls” of the virtual showroom, browsing through hundreds more product and service offerings.
Conference organizers are promising 55 hours of keynote and breakout content, which will be more than enough to keep me occupied. The agenda isn’t yet published, but I know that two of my IHRIM colleagues – Stacey Harris and Dennis Hill – will be speakers.
All in all, for all of the roadblocks that COVID-19 has put in front of conference organizers, HR Tech promises to be a great event….just a little different in format!
