Online Exams

The online examination option allows the exam to be taken from almost anywhere through live remote proctoring, providing flexibility while maintaining secure testing standards.

Candidates are responsible for ensuring that their computer, software, webcam, microphone, and internet connection meet the Testing Service Providerโ€™s technical requirements before the exam.

Online exam appointments may be rescheduled or canceled up to 24 hours before the scheduled time. Candidates who do not appear and have not rescheduled within that timeframe will be recorded as a no-show, and the exam and exam fees will be forfeited.

Test Center Exams

Test Center Exam option provides access to a global network of professional, proctored testing centers. These facilities are located in major cities around the world and are designed to deliver secure, standardized examination conditions. Candidates can select a convenient location and available date through the testing providerโ€™s scheduling system, allowing professionals across regions to sit for the HRIP exam in a controlled, reliable environment.

To provide flexibility while maintaining examination integrity, candidates may reschedule a test center appointment up to two (2) days prior to the scheduled exam date.

If a candidate does not appear for the scheduled examination and has not rescheduled at least two (2) days in advance, the candidate will be recorded as a no-show, and the exam appointment and associated fees will be forfeited. This policy ensures fair access to testing slots while maintaining efficient use of testing center resources worldwide.

Professional Oral Assessment

An oral examination option to ensure qualified professionals are not excluded due to barriers unrelated to their knowledge or experience.

This option supports candidates who may face challenges with written exams, including those who demonstrate their expertise better through verbal explanation.

The oral exam maintains the same rigor and scope as the written exam. Candidates are assessed across all five HRIP knowledge domains within the same two-hour period.

Eligibility is granted only after demonstrated need, typically based on multiple written examination outcomes, confirming that the issue lies with the testing format rather than professional competency.

Who Should Get HRIP Certified?

For decades, IHRIM members and its Council on HRIP Content and Examination have defined the HRIP Certification as a global credential of expertise, experience, and applied knowledge, not theory gleaned from books, general tasks, or purely academic preparation. A broad background in HR and IT principles, with years of practical experience, are qualities found in the ideal candidate. Senior HRIP-certified professionals recommend the following guidelines:

  • Possess at least 5 years of practical experience immersed in HR using related technologies.
  • Actively support HR technology with problem solving and people skills.
  • Evidence commitment to lifelong learning, by post-secondary education, training, or certification in HR, IT, project or change management.
9

Current HR technology solutions or HR information management work experience may be categorized in private and public sector, educational institutions and consultancies as:

  • Human resources information systems (HRIS/HRIT/HRMS)
  • Human capital management (HCM)
  • Learning & Development (LMS, HRD)
  • HRIS/HRIT educators and researchers
  • HR software and service providers
  • Information Technology/Project Management (IT/PM)

The HRIP Certification Exam reflects current HR technology solutions, information management, and human capital management practices. Work experience need not be current or sequential; more recent experience will align better with the examโ€™s content and lead to a successful outcome.

IHRIM does not discriminate against any protected class.
