IHRIM Project of the Year Award
The IHRIM Project of the Year Award honors project teams for their successful completion of an HR information management project. The team may include both internal and external contributors and projects may range from a single, narrowly focused activity to a large, multipart initiative, so long as the results can be clearly linked to the goals of HR and the organization.
2016 Project of the Year Award Winner:
Cox Enterprises is a leading communications, media and automotive services company. With revenues of $18 billion and approximately 60,000 employees, the company's major operating subsidiaries include Cox Communications (cable television distribution, high-speed Internet access, telephone, home security and automation, commercial telecommunications and advertising solutions); Cox Automotive (automotive-related auctions, financial services, media and software solutions); and Cox Media Group (television and radio stations, digital media, newspapers and advertising sales rep firms).
Cox Enterprises’ challenge was to reimagine how it looked at talent management in order to improve its talent mobility, development and retention results.HR leaders embarked on a $15M+, multi-year journey to integrate Talent Management functions from across the divisions and create harmonized processes and systems that would enable cross-divisional Talent Management. Scope of the project included taking a fresh look at the underlining processes, organizations, and technologies that made up talent management for Cox Enterprises. This included talent acquisition, onboarding, performance management, career development, employee profiles, talent review, and succession planning. Compass set out to link the people strategy to the business strategy by leveraging common processes, practices and technology. At the end of the project, Cox is now able to have a holistic view of employee talent across the Cox family of businesses and promote having the right people in the right places at the right time.
