IHRIM 2014 Call for Courses

Thank you for your interest in presenting at the IHRIM 2014 Conference.
The Call for Courses is now closed. 
 

Pre-Conference Education Courses will be held on Saturday, May 31 and Sunday, June 1 in conjunction with IHRIM's 2014 HRMS Strategies Conference in Anaheim, California. You are invited to submit a proposal to share your experience and expertise with your colleagues during one of these Pre-Conference Education Courses.  All proposals  must be submitted electronically via online submission by August 28, 2013.

Course Details

  • Course lengths of a half-day (3.5 total education hours) and a full-day (6.5 total education hours) are accepted.

  • Courses are submitted for HRIP recertification credit units and HRCI recertification credit hours.

  • Courses require attendees to pre-register and pay an additional fee for attendance.

How Are Pre-Conference Education Courses Selected?
Proposals will be reviewed and evaluated on the following criteria:

  • Relevance to conference attendees and other potential attendees

  • A well-defined topic with focused objectives

  • Practical application of material

  • Timeliness to current issues

  • Originality of material

  • Completeness of course proposal

  • Benefit to audience

  • Presenter experience and qualifications

  • While the HRIP designation is not required, it is a definite plus

  • IHRIM membership is not required, but it is plus when two or more proposals are similar

Please note that IHRIM Pre-conference Courses are educational in nature and no sales pitches are allowed.

All persons submitting proposals will be notified of the selection or rejection of their proposal. If your presentation is selected, you will be required to complete a presenter agreement prior to having your presentation confirmed and placed on the schedule. Due to the large number of proposals received, we cannot specifically list reasons for rejection.

  • Honorarium is provided, but please note that a complimentary conference registration is NOT included, although you will be able to register at a special discounted rate
  • Provides those that have earned the HRIP designation with the opportunity to earn Recertification Credit Hours (RCH's)

Knowledge Areas
IHRIM is seeking qualified persons to speak on topics relevant to the following Knowledge Areas.  This list of suggested topics is provided as a guide and is not all-inclusive.

HR Technology Strategy and Trends: Sessions focusing on creating strategic plans for the design and deployment of Human Resource technology and service delivery models for the enterprise, and the trends and new technologies HRIM professionals need to know about. Topics such as the following:

  • Development of an HR technology strategy

  • Business case development for new HR systems and technology

  • Methods for delivery of technology applications and how they best fit the needs and objectives of a strategy (Web 2.0, SaaS, HRO, etc.)

  • Trends in HR technology

  • Use of social technologies/tools in HR

  • HR and collaborative technologies

  • HR goes mobile: development and use of mobile solutions

HR Technology and Business Processes: Sessions focusing on the technologies and HR processes that support HR service delivery, and the use and advantages of technology and systems throughout the HR function. Topics such as the following:

  • The interrelationships/interfaces among HR systems and other functional areas

  • Ideas to help HR departments improve the use of HR technology in their organizations

  • eApplications

  • Talent Management

  • Recruiting and Onboarding

  • Learning Management

  • Applications in Compensation and Benefits

  • Workforce planning and succession management

  • Contingent workforce management

Systems Selection, Implementations and Upgrades: Sessions focusing on HR systems selection, implementation and upgrades, and the sharing of best practices aimed at keeping systems plans on track and successful. Topics such as the following:

  • Identifying business user requirements and the creation of business requirement documentation to be used in selecting the right solution

  • Key factors to be considered in managing vendor evaluation and selection

  • Creating an RFP/RFI and the factors to consider while reviewing the proposals

  • Project management

  • Change management

  • System integration

  • Post implementation strategies

HR Systems Operations: Sessions focusing on how companies are dealing with the challenges faced in the ongoing management and utilization of HR systems and HR information. Topics such as the following:

  • Utilization of your current technology solution

  • Workforce analytics and reporting

  • Business intelligence

  • Data management

  • Big data and the impact on HR

  • Business continuity and disaster recovery planning

  • Privacy and security issues in HR systems operations

  • Process improvement and ongoing assessment of HR systems operations

  • Conducting an HR systems audit

Professional Development: These sessions are aimed at the HR systems professional seeking new skills and updating their professional "toolkit". Topics such as:

  • Team management/collaborating with others

  • Problem solving

  • Conflict resolution

  • Leadership skills

  • Effective negotiation

  • Coaching skills
