These specially designed workshops provide an in-depth look at the topics and issues of importance in HR and HR information management. Passing the exam indicates a demonstrated comprehensive understanding and proficiency of the defined body of knowledge in HR information management. Take this course to help prepare for the HRIP Certification Exam. While the course is not intended to replace professional experience or other sources of achieving professional competence; it will help you refresh and expand your professional knowledge. Session Number 4 Saturday, June 1, 8:30am – 5:00 pm IHRIM’s HR Metrics and Workforce Analytics Basics This course is designed for individuals that are new to data analysis, HR metrics or both. This full day program begins with an overview of the field of HR Metrics and Workforce Analytics and provides training in fundamental data analytic techniques, data interpretation, and the fundamentals of reporting data to decision makers.

The purpose for
conducting HR Metrics and Analytics in organizations is to improve decision
making and how to develop HR metrics and analytics systems with that purpose
in mind. How to conduct basic statistical analyses to report the current
conditions and trends in your organization. Key metrics that can be used
to evaluate the staffing levels (e.g., head count versus plan, bench
strength, turnover), staffing and development effectiveness (e.g., quality
of applicants attracted, offer acceptance, regret turnover, employee
performance, training effectiveness). Data reporting techniques that allow
you to communicate intended messages to target audiences most effectively. Carlson, Associate Professor of Management in the Pamplin College of Business at Virginia Tech, teaches courses in Human Resource Management, Productivity and Quality Improvement and Applied Human Resource Information Systems. His research interests include knowledge and its role in decision-making, the evaluation of staffing effectiveness, and the use of human resource information systems to improve organization function. His work has been published in the Journal of Applied Psychology, Personnel Psychology, Journal of Management, Personnel Review and the IHRIM Journal and he has presented at the annual meetings of the Academy of Management, Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology and IHRIM. He is current a member of IHRIM’s Board of Directors and was a founding director of IHRIM’s HR Metrics and Workforce Analytics Affinity Group. Instructor: Dr. Lisa Plantamura, HRIP, Associate Professor and Director of Instructional Design at Centenary College, spent over 20 years as a practitioner in HR and IT, as well as consulting, managing a variety of HRIT projects. She holds doctorates in adult education and organizational leadership, HRIP certification, and is completing a certification in instructional design technology. She has worked in the retail, banking, financial services, software, utilities, and pharmaceutical industries, and recently started an online business. 6 IHRIM’s Successful System Implementation Course This course focuses on the tools and techniques needed for successful HR system/application deployment. Since implementation projects are about more than converting data, this course will cover all of the phases necessary for a successful implementation from planning and preparation through post implementation review. You’ll learn what Design Thinking is and why is it important in HRIS (and how can it benefit IT and HR), interviewing techniques to get to the root cause needed to create requirements, synthesizing feedback and developing a point of view, low fidelity prototyping, and Presenting the solution to gain commitment. In this course that spans the whole conference, you will learn a methodology that you can apply at work and throughout your daily life. You will then use the methodology on a real-world, real-time exercise that will have you out of the “classroom” and into the mix of the conference.
