IHRIM 2012
Tuesday, May 1 Unlocking the Power of Human Organizations Our organizations
have been run on very "mechanical" models for centuries, but today's social
media revolution, with its focus on more human principles, is showing us a
more powerful way of leading and managing that has the potential to really
transform our organizations. But humanizing our organizations is no easy task
- it will require change at all levels, from culture, to process, to
structure, to individual behavior. In this session, Jamie Notter, co-author
of Humanize: How People-Centric Organizations Succeed in a Social World,
will explore what it takes to create a more human organization and provide
some practical, actionable advice for starting the change process in your
organization. Jamie Notter is a Vice President at Management
Solutions Plus, where he leads the Consulting Division. Jamie started his
career in the field of international conflict resolution, where he spent six
years designing and delivering training programs in areas of ethnic conflict
(if you get a chance, ask him about the awesome people on the island of
Cyprus). Jamie then moved into working with organizations, initially as a
diversity trainer and consultant, and later leading his private management
consulting practice. In 2008 Jamie created the consulting division at
Management Solutions Plus, Inc. (an association management company). An accomplished speaker, Jamie travels extensively
delivering keynote addresses, seminars and workshops to corporate,
nonprofit, association, and government audiences covering leadership,
conflict, generations, and making our organizations more human. Jamie carries a master’s degree in conflict resolution from
George Mason University, and a Certificate in Organization Development from
Georgetown, where he serves as adjunct faculty. An avid writer, he has
authored dozens of published articles and three books, including
Humanize: How People-Centric Organizations Succeed in a Social World
(2011, hardcover, Que Publishing, with Maddie Grant,
www.humanizebook.com) and Generational Diversity in the
Workplace: Hype Won’t Get You Results (2007).
