IHRIM Summit Award

The IHRIM Summit Award Program recognizes members who have made significant, long-term contributions to the advancement of IHRIM's mission and goals.

2013 Summit Award Winners: Rich Berger, HRIP, SPHR and Lexy Martin

Rich Berger

Rich Berger, HRIP, SPHR
Group Director, Global HRIS and Metrics
Citrix Systems

Rich Berger, HRIP, SPHR, is a leader in both the HRMS industry and IHRIM. In a professional career spanning over 35 years, he has been focusing on human resource technology even before the profession became recognized. From developing HR systems at United Technologies using on-screen instead of punch cards to his current role at Citrix Systems in Fort Lauderdale, Florida where he is responsible for HRIS strategy, metrics and analytics, and HR technology for employees. From mainframes, to mini-computers to client/server to ASP to SaaS, Rich has participated in it all.

Rich has given back to the industry for a number of years through speaking at many IHRIM conferences, industry events and numerous vendor conferences. He has been published in IHRIM's Workforce Solutions Review, Workforce Management and the Program Management Journal and is one of the authors in the book "Out of Site: An Inside Look at HR Outsourcing."

Rich has been a major contributor to IHRIM since he joined the Association in 1993. He served on the Board of the Midwest Chapter and was CFO for Florida Sun Chapter. He was one of the founding members of Global Special Interest Group and helped start the successful global forum conferences. He worked with the group that became the workforce analytics committee. During two terms on the Association Board, he was a major contributor in shaping the organization. In his role as Vice Chair, he led the strategic planning process and introduced Design Thinking to the IHRIM Board.

Rich holds a BS degree from the University of Massachusetts/Amherst, and an MBA with a concentration in HR from Western New England University. He earned certification as a Human Resource Information Professional (HRIP) and holds an SPHR certification.

Lexy Martin

Lexy Martin
Vice President, Research & Analytics
CedarCrestone

Lexy has been a consistent contributor to the industry's continuing evolution from the pioneering days of introducing office automation and PCs in the early '80s, groupware in the late '80s, self-service in the early '90s, and to continuing technology introduction this decade.

As Vice President, Research & Analytics, CedarCrestone, Lexy is responsible for its annual HR Systems Survey, the longest running HR systems survey. IHRIM has partnered with CedarCrestone on the survey for a number of years, providing IHRIM members the opportunity to participate in this leading industry survey and receive the results. The survey is used by countless organizations in developing their HR technologies roadmap.

When not working on the survey, she provides strategy, business case, and metrics and analytics services, along with deep-dive benchmarking in all industries. A sought-after thought-leader and speaker, few researchers in the field of HR technology can match the experience that Lexy has accumulated during her career in introducing emerging technologies.

An IHRIM member since 1994, Lexy has been involved in metrics initiatives, serving on the IHRIM HR Metrics and Workforce Analytics Affinity Group's board of directors.

She recently "retired" from IHRIM's Workforce Solutions Review (WSR), formerly IHRIM.link and Journal, Editorial Committee after 8+ years. Most recently she was Managing Editor where she guided content that has kept the WSR a highly rated IHRIM membership benefit. In her initial role on the Editorial Committee as a guest editor and through her role of co-managing editor, Lexy has been an invaluable resource for IHRIM.

Lexy holds a Bachelors degree in Political Science, Business, from California State (San Francisco) and a Masters degree in Organizational Development from the University of San Francisco.
